Mental Health Support and Counseling Services

All American team members and their household members can each access up to four free counseling sessions per issue each year.  This service is confidential and available 24/7 to help connect you to the support you need.  EAP specialists can provide immediate help or direct you to one of your in-network providers for no-cost, one-on-one sessions.  Sessions can be in-person, online, or over the phone.

Want a different approach to counseling?  Send text, video or audio messages to a dedicated therapist using Talkspace, an online therapy platform.  Your therapist will reply to you each day. (One week of Talkspace therapy counts as one counseling session.)

Help is here, 24/7. Call 8‌3‌3-72‌1-23‌22 for our Employee Assistance Program or visit the EAP website (if prompted, username and password are both: American).

Onsite Consultations and Referrals

All onsite EAP counselors are licensed mental health professionals who specialize in working with American team members. They can assist with providing confidential services, emotional support, professional guidance on handling difficult work and life challenges, management consultations, and resources for and referrals to additional services as needed.

EAP specialists can direct you to substance abuse professionals and other resources to help with alcohol and drug misuse and other addictions. Depending on your workgroup, you may also have access to other specialized programs to help you navigate substance misuse.
