Choose activities that speak to you

You can participate in the same activities that have been available in the past, like biometric screenings, online well-being assessments, community service and other programs. Or you can try something new from an extensive list — tracking your daily steps, discussing your health goals with a coach, practicing mindfulness or creating a financial plan, for example.

Track your progress on the go

The Limeade app, available from the Apple App Store or Google Play, easily connects you to your well-being journey from anywhere. To get started, enter program code AAL.

It's rewarding

Earn points — and rewards — for activities you complete.

For each activity completed, you’ll earn a certain number of points, and when you earn the required number of points for each level, Well-Being Rewards will be added to your health reimbursement account (HRA) or health savings account (HSA).

Activities like taming stress could earn you 25 points a week, while completing a team step challenge could earn you 250 points. Once you’ve earned 500 points, you’ll get your first $50 Well-Being Reward. That’s money you can use for eligible health care expenses.

You’ll need 2,500 points to receive the maximum $250. The good news is you can reach 2,500 points in different ways. One way is by completing all the same activities from previous years, such as biometric screenings and well-being assessments. Or you can shape your own journey by selecting activities that match your interests and also add up to 2,500 points.

Who can participate

All U.S.-based mainline team members as well as covered dependents age 18 and older can use Journey to Well-Being to find activities, tools, information and coaches. You don’t have to be enrolled in an American Airlines medical option to take part in Journey to Well-Being. However, to be eligible to earn up to $250 in Well-Being Rewards, you must be a:

  • U.S.-based mainline team member or covered spouse enrolled in the Core, Standard, High Cost Coverage, DFW ConnectedCare or PPO 80/90/100 medical options.
  • Covered domestic partner of a team member enrolled in the Core medical option.

Spending your Well-Being Rewards

Your Well-Being Rewards can be spent on eligible medical, prescription, dental and vision expenses for you and your dependents.

Rewards deposited in your HRA will roll over every year if you remain enrolled in the Standard, High Cost Coverage, PPO 80/90/100 or DFW Connected Care medical options.

If you’re enrolled in the Core medical option, Well-Being Rewards deposited into your HSA are always yours to keep.

If you’re enrolled in an HCFSA or HSA, you can use the same Smart-Choice debit card to access both HCFSA/HSA funds as well as your earned Well-Being Rewards. When you use your card to pay for expenses, your HCFSA funds will pay first. When those funds have been depleted, your Well-Being Rewards will then pay for your medical, prescription, dental, and vision expenses.
